Ernest Doku, telecoms expert at Uswitch.com comments on the announcement of Sky Glass Gen 2:
“The Sky Glass sequel improves on all the key television features that we know customers want. Everything from improved audio and core processor, a new 4K Quantum Dot display to overall aesthetics have all been given an impressive bump - as well as a solution to reduce the dreaded lag of live sporting content.
“Glass Gen 2 stays ahead of the curve when it comes to collating - and curating - the best content from multiple streaming services, bringing much-needed convenience for consumers who want everything in one place.
“There's no avoiding the fact that choosing not to adopt a super-fast refresh rate of 120Hz rate for gamers is a shortcoming for Sky Glass Gen 2 - especially given it’s a product priced firmly at the high end.
“As with its predecessor, customers have the choice to either buy the TV outright, starting at £699 for the 43-inch. Alternatively, they can split the cost over 24 or 48 months, with plans starting at £14 a month, with an upfront cost of £20. This does not include the content, which starts at £15 per month for Sky’s new Essential TV package and rises to £22 per month for the more premium Sky Ultimate TV package.
“While it does offer value in comparison to purchasing products and subscriptions outright, it is still very much a premium offering.
“It's also exciting to see plans to launch an even more affordable option in Glass Air down the line - a smart move given the role of Glass to get more customers signed up to Sky's broadband and TV offerings.”
