Can I get full fibre broadband in Bristol?

Full fibre broadband, also known as fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP), differs from regular fibre by connecting fibre-optic cables right to your front door, whereas other services still rely on copper to connect your home to a fibre cable at the nearest street cabinet.

This means speeds of up to 1Gbps are accessible in many areas — around 12 times faster than slower fibre services. Availability of these services is slightly more limited than for other options, but there are many locations in Bristol that can access them.

Altnet broadband providers in Bristol

Bristol boasts a good selection of alternative broadband providers, known as 'altnets', that provide full fibre connections on their own networks. Here is where you may find availability for them across the city:

  • ITS Technology: Widespread availability all across Bristol, especially in central areas. It also has coverage reaching up to Horfield and down to Brislington.
  • Hyperoptic: Some availability to flat blocks in central Bristol.

How fast is the internet in Bristol?
